CINCINNATI, Ohio – Two Akron Zips sit inside the top-25, including George Baylis and J.B. Williams, after day one of the 2015 Cobra Puma Invitational at the par-71, 6,680-yard Maketewah Country Club.
The Zips did not post a team score, with four players competing as individuals. Eastern Kentucky's Jared Brown leads the individual standings by one shot with a score of 139 (-3).
Baylis is tied for 13th place after posting rounds of 3-over 74 and 2-over 73. He will open play with a 36-hole tally of 147 (+5). Baylis led the field on day one with 25 pars.
Williams is tied for 24th place with one round to play (150, +8). He carded rounds of 3-over 74 and 5-over 76.
Harry Whittle sits two shots behind Williams in a tie for 29th place (152, +10). He opened play with a 3-over 74 before concluding the day with a 7-over 78.
Zach Gollwitzer struggled during the morning round, carding a 9-over 80, but rebounded with a 3-over 74 in the afternoon. He is tied for 36th place heading into Tuesday's final round (154, +12).
Play will conclude on Tuesday, with the final round set to begin at 9 a.m. ET with a shotgun start.
There will be no live scoring for the event.
