Cieslinski and Siefring earn strong showings at California Invitational Combined Events

AZUSA, Calif. - University of Akron redshirt sophomore Quentin Cieslinski (Madison, Ohio) and freshman Jackie Siefring (Covington, Ohio) placed third and sixth, respectively, in the decathlon and heptathlon at the California Invitational Combined Events at Azusa Pacific University on Thursday, April 15.
In the first of five events in final-day action in the decathlon, Cieslinski notched a season-best time of 15.06 en route to placing second in the 110-meter hurdles.
He followed recording a career-best mark of 112-4.00 in the discus to place ninth before surpassing 14-1.25 in the pole vault.
In the final two events, the javelin and the 1,500-meter run, Cieslinski registered the sixth- and fourth-best marks, respectively. He elevated the javelin to 151-10 and then crossed the line in the 1,500 meters in 4:45.82.
His efforts resulted in a third-place finish with 6,816 points.
Opening her day in the heptathlon, Siefring recorded the eight-best mark in the long jump with an outdoor career-best leap of 18-10.75.
She followed with a throw of 109-4.00 in the javelin before finishing fourth in the 800-meter race in 2:15.60.
Siefring's efforts enabled her to place sixth in the final standings with a seven-event total of 5,269 points.
