KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The Akron men's golf team concluded the 2014-15 regular season on Sunday with a 12th-place finish at the 2015 Irish Creek Intercollegiate on the par-71, 7,099-yard Club at Irish Creek.
The Zips carded a final-round 299 (+15) to finish the day with a 54-hole score of 885 (+33). South Florida came from seven-shots back to post a one-shot victory over North Florida with a score of 853 (+1).
Louis Birchall closed the weekend by firing a 1-over 72 to finish in a tie for 23rd place with a total score of 217 (+4).
Yann Pfeiffer dropped into a tie for 38th place on Sunday, posting a round of 7-over 78. He ended play with a three-round tally of 221 (+8).
J.B. Williams carded his third-straight round of 3-over 74 on the weekend to finish in a tie for 41st place (222, +9).
George Baylis, like Williams, posted three identical scores over the last two days. Baylis finished with a 4-over 75 and ended the day in a tie for 56th place (225, +12).
Ryan Harris rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 75th place with a score of 232 (+19). He concluded the day with a round of 78 (+7).
The Zips will begin preparations for the 2015 Mid-American Conference Championship, which is set for May 1-3 at the Mayfield Sand Ridge Club - Sand Ridge in Chardon, Ohio.
