NAPLES, Fla. – The Akron men's golf team posted its best round on the Talis Park Challenge on Monday to finish the event in 14th place.
The Zips carded a final-round 297 (+13) to finish with a 54-hole score of 892 (+40). No. 12 LSU overcame a two-shot deficit to defeat No. 4 Vanderbilt by four strokes with a total score of 838 (-14).
Ryan Harris led the way for Akron, firing a round of even-par 71 to conclude the tournament with a 54-hole score of 217 (+4). He ended play in a tie for 28th place
Yann Pfeiffer continued his strong play from yesterday's second round, carding a round of 1-over 72 to follow his 3-over 74 from Sunday afternoon. He closed play with a total score of 224 (+11), finishing tied for 52nd place.
Louis Birchall posted his second round of 76 (+5) of the event, concluding play in a tie for 62nd place (227, +14).
Zach Gollwitzer ended the day in a tie for 66th place after posting a round of 7-over 78 to give him a three-round total of 231 (+18).
George Baylis rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 69th place with a tally of 233 (+20). He carded a 9-over 80 on Monday.
The Zips will conclude their busy month of March when they travel to Greenville, S.C., for the Furman Intercollegiate on March 27.
