NAPLES, Fla. – The Akron men's golf team concluded day one of the Talis Park Challenge in 14th place on Sunday at the par-71, 6,891-yard Talis Park Golf.
The Zips posted rounds of 10-over 294 and 17-over 301 to close day one with a score of 595 (+27). No. 4 Vanderbilt leads the field with a 36-hole score of 560 (-8).
Ryan Harris led the way for Akron, posting back-to-back rounds of 2-over 73 to finish the day with a score of 146 (+4). He will open the final round in a tie for 36th place.
Louis Birchall is tied for 58th place with a score of 151 (+9) after posting rounds of 5-over 76 and 4-over 75.
Yann Pfeiffer sits one shot behind Birchall in a tie for 61st place (152, +10). Pfeiffer opened the day with a round of 78 (+7) before rebounding to fire a 3-over 74 in the afternoon.
Zach Gollwitzer and George Baylis finished in a tie for 64th place with scores of 153 (+11). Gollwitzer posted rounds of 3-over 74 and 8-over 79, while Baylis carded scores of even-par 71 and 11-over 82.
