Women's Tennis Falls at Wisconsin, 7-0

MADISON, Wis. — The University of Akron women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at Wisconsin on Friday evening at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
The Zips fell to 5-3 overall, while the Badgers improved to 3-2 overall.
"It was an exciting environment to play in, but I'm disappointed in the lack of maturity that was shown on a few courts today," head coach Brandon Padgett said. "Losing three matches in third-set tiebreakers is tough, but we have to do more to put ourselves in position to win."
In doubles action, junior Martina Zerbola (Neuquen, Argentina) and freshman Sophia Geier (Burgebrach, Germany) claimed the only win for the Zips on the day with an 8-6 victory over Lauren Burich and Kelsey Grambeau at the No. 1 spot.
In singles play, Wisconsin swept UA although Zerbola, Geier, and freshman Ariadna Blinova (Riga, Latvia) each battled through third-set tie breakers.
Akron will face Utah State on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
