Swimming and Diving Closes Home Schedule Against Xavier and Mount Union on Friday

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron swimming and diving team closes out its home schedule and the 2014-15 regular season on Friday in a tri-meet against Xavier and Mount Union at 5 p.m. at the Ocasek Natatorium.
The meet will also serve as Senior Night, as Akron seniors Maria Eidam, Kelsey Ferrante, Taylor Hart, Amanda Lawson, Rachael Lewis, Meghan Pearson and Emily Poland will be recognized before the competition.

The Zips last competed when they wrapped up 2014-15 dual meet action against Mid-American Conference opponent Bowling Green, where they fell 167-132 on the road.
Despite the loss, The Zips placed a swimmer in the top three in 15-of-16 events and won six events overall.
Akron was led by junior Erin Seiler and sophomore Luka Szynal who each posted two individual victories while junior diver Alice Hottensmith dove into the top-five in program history with a first-place score of 295.88 in the one-meter dive.
Seiler took both the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.01) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.37) while also posting the fasted 150 fly time in the 200-yard medley relay to help her team of Ashley Niznik, Hannah Raspopovich and Susan Franz finish second.
Szynal won the 100-yard backstroke at 55.86 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.38.
Following Friday's meet, UA will be back in action beginning on Feb. 25 when it looks to defend its MAC Championship title at the 2015 MAC Championships taking place at Eastern Michigan's Jones Natatorium from Feb. 25-28.
