BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Akron Zips concluded the regular season on Sunday with an eighth-place finish at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational.
The Zips battled very strong winds all day to post a round of 330 (+42), concluding play with a two-day score of 646 (+70). Mid-American Conference foe Ball State won the event with a 36-hole tally of 628 (+52).
Laura Murray and Frida Fougberg posted top-15 finishes for the Zips, closing the round tied for eighth and tied for 12th place, respectively. Both players posted rounds of 8-over 80 as Murray finished with a score of 157 (+13) while Fougberg ended the day with a score of 158 (+14).
Sara Chaves and Mallory Etcheberry both finished tied for 43rd place with two-day tallies of 166 (+22). Chaves carded a round of 12-over 84 while Etcheberry posted a 15-over 87.
Whitney Graff rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 59th place (169, +25) after her round of 86 (+14).
Sierra Everson, playing as an individual, finished tied for 65th place (171, +27) following a round of 87 (+15).
The Zips will travel to Fishers, Ind., on April 25 for the 2014 MAC Championship.
