MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Akron men's golf team posted its best round of the week to close its first spring event in 13th place at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on the par-72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.
The Zips ended play with a round of 4-over 292 to finish with a 54-hole score of 901 (+37). No. 27 Auburn won the event with a three-round score of 858 (-6).
Charlie Bull climbed 13 spots to finish in a tie for eighth place thanks to a round of 5-under 67. He closed out the week with a three-round tally of 2-under 214.
Ryan Harris earned a top-25 finish, ending the day tied for 25th place (221, +5). Harris posted a round of even-par 72 on Tuesday.
Louis Birchall posted his second round of 3-over 75 of the event to finish tied for 61st place (229, +13).
Chandler Morgan and Zach Gollwitzer rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 69th place with identical three-round scores of 240 (+24). Gollwitzer posted a round of 78 (+6) while Morgan carded a score of 7-over 79.
The Zips return to action on March 10 when they travel to Aiken, S.C., for the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.
