CLEVELAND – For the third time this season, Akron forward Demetrius "Tree" Treadwell has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Treadwell also earned player of the week honors on Dec. 23 and Jan. 27. His three player of the week awards are the most of any MAC East player and is tied for the most by a single player this season (Julius Brown, Toledo).
For the week, Treadwell averaged 20.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 block per game while posting two double-doubles. He also shot 54.2 percent from the floor and 76.5 percent at the charity stripe.
Against Western Michigan on Wednesday, Treadwell finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds, three steals, two assists and two swats.
Treadwell had a career night against Northern Illinois on Saturday, posting a career-high 25 points to go with team-highs in rebounds (10) and assists (3). Treadwell is the first Zip to post a 25-point, 10-rebound double-double since Chris McKnight against Ohio on Feb. 14, 2010. He has double-doubles in a MAC-best 13 games, including nine of the last 10 contests.
The Zips are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 19, when they travels to Buffalo, N.Y., to take on the Buffalo Bulls. The 7 p.m. ET tip is set to air on TWC Sports Channel and ESPN3.
