AKRON, Ohio – A chip-in birdie on the 18th hole wasn't enough to give Louis Birchall his first collegiate wins as he helped the Akron Zips men's golf team to a fifth-place finish on Tuesday at The Firestone Invitational, Presented by FirstEnergy Solutions.
Trailing by two shots entering the final two holes, Birchall closed the round birdie-birdie to finish in second place. His chip-in birdie on 18 gave him a share of the lead for a brief moment, before his playing partner sank his birdie put on 18 to win the event out-right.
Birchall finished with a 54-hole score of 3-under 213 after posting a final-round 72 (E).
