KENNESAW, Ga. – The Akron men's golf team concluded its fall season on Tuesday with an eight-place finish at the Pinetree Intercollegiate.
The Zips climbed one spot during the final 18 holes thanks to a round of 297 (+9). For the tournament, Akron finished with a combined score of 903 (+39). Tournament-host Kennesaw State led wire-to-wire to win with a tally of 845 (-19).
Three Zips finished inside the top 25, including J.B. Williams, Louis Birchall and George Baylis. Williams posted a round of 3-over 75 to conclude play in a tie for 16th place (223, +7). Birchall and Baylis finished tied for 21st place with three-round scores of 226 (+10). Birchall carded a round of 2-over 74 while Baylis posted a 3-over 75 to earn his first collegiate top-25 finish.
Yann Pfeiffer's round of 4-over 76 moved him into a tie for 32nd place (231, +15) while Chandler Morgan rounded out the scoring-five in 44th place (235, +19). Morgan posted the low round of the day for the Zips, firing a 1-over 73.
The Zips return to action on March 8 when they travel to Opelika, Ala., for the Tiger Invitational.
