KENNESAW, Ga. – The Akron men's golf team rebounded with a solid second round to finish day one of the Pinetree Intercollegiate in ninth place on Monday.
The Zips struggled during the morning round, posting a score of 25-over 313 before improving by 20 shots in the afternoon with a round of 293 (+5). Akron finished the day with a score of 606 (+30). No. 34 Kennesaw State holds a 29-shot lead with a 36-hole tally of 557 (-19).
J.B. Williams and George Baylis sit inside the top-25 through two rounds. Williams fired rounds of 4-over 76 and even-par 72 to finish tied for 15th place (148, +4). Baylis is three shots behind Williams in a tie for 25th place (151, +7). Baylis posted rounds of 78 (+6) and 73 (+1).
Louis Birchall is tied for 29th place after 36 holes after posting a score of 152 (+8). He posted a round of 80 (+8) in the morning round before rebounding with an even-par 72 in the afternoon.
Yann Pfeiffer is tied for 41st place (155, +11) after carding rounds of 79 (+7) and 76 (+4).
Chandler Morgan rounded out the scoring-five in 57th place (162, +18). He posted scores of 84 (+12) and 78 (+6) on the day.
Tuesday's final round will also begin at 8:10 a.m. ET, with players teeing off from the first and tenth tees. Fans can follow all the action live online via Golfstat Live Scoring.
