Men's Golf Concludes Day One of Sagamore Fall Preview in 12th Place

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – The University of Akron men's golf team sits in 12th place after day one of the Sagamore Fall Preview on the par-72, 7,173-yard Sagamore Club.
After battling rain for part of the opening round, the Zips finished the day with a 36-hole tally of 614 (+38). Akron carded rounds of 20-over 308 and 18-over 306. Illinois leads the field by eight shots with a day-one score of 570 (-6).
Zach Gollwitzer led they way for the Zips, finishing play in a tie for 32nd place (151, +7). He opened play with an even-par 72 before closing the day with a 7-over 79.
Ryan Harris is tied for 45th place (153, +9) after rounds of 3-over 75 and 6-over 78, while J.B. Williams is tied for 57th place (157, +13). Williams posted a 12-over 84, but rebounded in the afternoon to fire a 1-over 73.
George Baylis will enter Tuesday's final round tied for 61st place with a total score of 158 (+14). Baylis posted rounds of 78 (+6) and 80 (+8).
Louis Birchall rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 68th place with a 36-hole score of 159 (+15). Like Williams, Birchall struggled during round one, posting an 11-over 83, but rebounded in the afternoon with a 4-over 76.
Play is set to conclude on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. ET, with tee times on the first and tenth tees. Fans can follow all the action via Golfstat Live Scoring.
