COLUMBUS, Ohio – Day two of the 2013 NCAA Columbus Regional is in the book and University of Akron junior Charlie Bull is tied for 33rd with one round to play at the par 71, 7,286-yard Scarlet Course.
Bull closed play with a round of 3-over 74 and sits in a group of seven players with a 36-hole score of 8-over 150. Scoring was tough for the second-consecutive day, with just eight of 75 players shooting par or better.
UNLV's Carl Jonson holds the lead after 36 holes, posting a 2-under 140.
Bull posted three birdies and six bogeys on the day, which saw the course play nearly a quarter-stroke harder than on Thursday (75.25 stroke average).
After a fog delay pushed back the start of round two, Bull, who started the round on the 10th tee, didn't take long to post a red number, carding a birdie on the par-4 11th.
Bull would make the turn at even-par after going bogey-birdie-bogey on holes 15 through 17. He would run into some trouble on holes two and three, posting back-to-back bogeys, but would recover to move to 1-over with a birdie – his fourth – on No. 4. He ended the day with bogeys on No. 7 and No. 9 to conclude his round of 3-over 74.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, which are slated for May 28-June 2, at The Capital City Club, Crabapple Course in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia Tech is the host institution for this year's championships.
The event is open to the public. Zips' fans not able to make it down to Columbus can follow the action live online via Golfstat Live Scoring. Click here for more information on the Columbus Regional.
