COLUMBUS, Ohio – University of Akron junior Charlie Bull is tied for 46th place following the first round of the 2013 NCAA Columbus Regional on Thursday at the par 71, 7,286-yard Scarlet Course.
Bull closed play with a round of 5-over 76, posting six bogeys and one birdie on the day. Scores in the red were far and few between, with just seven of 75 players posting rounds under par.
Charlotte's Raoul Menard holds the lead after 18 holes, posting a 4-under 67.
After opening the round with bogeys on the first and second holes, Bull carded his lone birdie of the day on the par-5 fourth. He would make the turn at 2-over before posting bogeys on No. 11, No. 15 and No. 17.
Bull is one of 75 players, including 13 teams and 10 individuals, taking part in the event, which is scheduled for three rounds. The second round will begin on Friday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. ET. Bull is set to tee off at 10:10 a.m. from the 10th tee.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, which are slated for May 28-June 2, at The Capital City Club, Crabapple Course in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia Tech is the host institution for this year's championships.
