WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The University of Akron men's golf team wrapped up its regular-season schedule on Sunday, finishing tied for 11th place at the Boilermaker Invitational on the par-72, 7,465-yard Kempen Course.
The Zips, as a team, carded a round of 27-over 315 to finish tied with Creighton for 11th place (911, +47). Louisville and Iowa tied for the team title with a score of 14-over 878.
Charlie Bull led the Zips with an eighth-place finish, closing the weekend with a three-round score of 1-over 217. Bull posted a 4-over 76 during the final round.
Cameron Simmons finished tied for 32nd place with a total score of 225 (+9) after carding a round of 8-over 80.
Ryan Harris and Carr Vernon finished tied for 66th (235, +19) and tied for 71st (236, +20), respectively. Harris ended the weekend with a final-round 78 (+6) while Vernon recorded a round of 8-over 80.
Louis Birchall rounded out the scoring-five in 79th place with a 54-hole tally of 241 (+25) after ended the event with a round of 83 (+11).
The Zips return to action on May 3 when they travel to Nashport, Ohio, for the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championship at Longaberger Golf Course.
