When the brackets are announced, the Zips (14-3-1), who are ranked No. 8 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll and No. 18 in the NCAA RPI, will hope to secure one of 16 seeds for the national tournament. All seeded teams receive a first-round bye and are guaranteed at least one home game.
If the Zips are awarded a home game, fans will be able to place orders for NCAA Tournament tickets at the Watch Party.
Akron will try to pad its postseason resume this weekend when it plays host to the Mid-American Conference Tournament at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field. The top-seeded Zips will play fourth-seeded West Virginia in the second semifinal match Friday at 7 p.m. No. 2-seed Western Michigan will take on No. 3-seed Hartwick in the first semifinal at 4 p.m.
