Charlie Bull Leads Men's Golf to Seventh-Place Finish

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. – A round of 2-under 69 moved junior Charlie Bull up three spots in the individual standings as The University of Akron men's golf team finished the highly-competitive Wolf Run Intercollegiate in seventh place on Sunday.
Bull fired his second round under par on the weekend to finish tied for second with a two-day score of 4-under 209. He finished tied with Finley Ewing IV of Texas Tech. Brant Peaper of Indiana won individual medalist honors with a three-round tally of 11-under 202.
As a team, the Zips carded a final-round 301 (+17) to finish in seventh place (887, +35). No. 30 Illinois took the team title, posting a score of 3-over 855.
Senior Cameron Simmons concluded the weekend in a tie for 31st place, carding a round of 77 (+6) to finish the day with a total of 223 (+10). Freshman Louis Birchall used a second-consecutive round of 3-over 74 to move up 12 spots to finish tied for 41st place (226, +13).
Freshman Ryan Harris and Carr Vernon closed out the weekend tied for 55th and tied for 68th respectively. Harris posted a three-round score of 230 (+17) while Vernon finished with a score of 239 (+26).
The Zips will have a break from competition before playing host to The Firestone Invitational on Oct. 8-9 at the world-famous Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
