Men's Golf Concludes Regular Season at Boilermaker Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron men's golf will conclude the regular season this weekend when it travels to West Lafayette, Ind., for the 2012 Boilermaker Invitational on the par-72, 7,465-yard Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The Zips will play 36 holes on Saturday with a shotgun start to round one at 8:45 a.m. ET, with the second round to follow immediately after the conclusion of the first 18 holes. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with tee times at the first and tenth tees beginning at 8:45 a.m. Fans can catch all of the action live via Golfstat Live Scoring.
This year's field includes Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, No. 39 Illinois, No. 37 Indiana, No. 26 Iowa, IUPUI, No. 18 Kent State, No. 94 Michigan State, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois, No. 59 Purdue, No. 35 TCU, Toledo and No. 36 Wichita State.
This will be the first trip for the Zips to the event and the second-consecutive season that Akron will conclude the regular season at a Big Ten-hosted tournament. Last season, the Akron squad defeated seven top-100 teams in the Golfstat rankings and nine of then 11 Big Ten teams by 10 strokes at the Illini Spring Classic (April 16-17).
Akron is coming off a fifth-place finish at the 2012 Memphis Intercollegiate on April 10. The Zips finished with a three-round total of 904 (+40), finishing ahead of one top-50 and five top-100 teams in the Golfstat rankings. Four Akron players finished in the top-25, led by senior Ryan Mason. Mason finished in a tie for seventh (222, +6).
