Dambrot Voter in USA TODAY Coaches Top-25 Basketball Poll

AKRON, Ohio – Ninth-year University of Akron head men's basketball coach Keith Dambrot is one of 31 coaches at Division I schools on the USA TODAY Board of Coaches and will participate in this season's top-25 balloting.
USA TODAY released its preseason coaches poll earlier this afternoon. Dambrot, voting for the first time in the poll, replaced former Miami (Ohio) head coach Charlie Coles as the Mid-American Conference representative following Coles' retirement from coaching. Each of the 31 voting members are members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Indiana received 21-of-31 first-place votes to take the top spot in the initial poll. Four of Akron's 2012-13 opponents appeared in the poll, led by No. 6 North Carolina State and No. 15 Creighton. Oklahoma State (6) and Middle Tennessee (3) received votes. Potential Puerto Rico Tip-Off opponent Tennessee (10) also received votes.
Dambrot is not the only Akron coach tabbed to vote in major polls as head football coach Terry Bowden votes in the USA TODAY Top-25 football poll. Head men's soccer coach Caleb Porter is a voter in the Soccer Times Top-25 poll as well as a member of the NSCAA Great Lakes Regional Advisory Committee, which helps determine seeding for the NCAA Tournament.
