BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Charlie Bull, three shots off the lead heading into the final round, carded a score of 5-over 77 to post a one-stroke victory at the WKU Kenny Perry Invitational on Tuesday.
The win is the first of Bull's career at Akron and capped off a fall schedule in which the junior from London, England, did not finish worse than tied for 13th in four events. He finished with a three-day score of 225 (+9).
The Zips closed out the fall slate with a fourth-place finish for the second-consecutive event. The squad closed out the week with a three-round tally of 941 (+77) after posting a 314 (+26) on Tuesday.
Senior Cameron Simmons continued his run up the leaderboard, finishing tied for 12th place with teammate and freshman Louis Birchall (237, +21). Simmons climbed 33 total spots from the first round to the third round, helped by a 1-over 73 on Tuesday. Birchall posted a score of 7-over 79 during the final round.
Freshmen Carr Vernon and Ryan Harris each posted scores of 13-over 85 to conclude the event. Vernon finished in 37th place (247, +31) while Harris was tied for 38th (248, +32).
The WKU Kenny Perry Invitational concludes play for Akron this fall, as the Zips will return to action in February 2013.
