BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Weather conditions improved on Monday and so did scoring as The University of Akron men's golf team posted the second-best round of the day to move into third place with 18 holes to play at the WKU Kenny Perry Invitational.
Just 24 hours ago, the field of 12 teams was battered by 25 mph winds, with not a single player breaking par. On Monday, only one player broker par and that player was junior Charlie Bull.
Bull fired a round of 2-under 70, the lowest round of the event through 36 holes. The score moved him up six spots into second place (148, +4), just three shots off the lead. JSU's Franco Grillo's paced the field with a score of 1-over 145.
The Zips posted a round of 18-over 306 to move up one spot with a 36-hole score of 627 (+51). Akron trails tournament leader Jacksonville State by 13 strokes (614, +38) and second-place Louisville by just four strokes (623, +47).
