Cvetinovic Named MAC Player of the Week

For the second time this season, University of Akron forward Nikola Cvetinovic was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.
Cvetinovic, a junior from Loznica, Serbia, earned his second-career POW award this season after helping the Zips (19-10, 9-5 MAC) to two MAC East wins last week. For the week, he averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game.
In the Zips' 72-55 win over Miami (Ohio) on Feb. 23, Cvetinovic led all scorers with 21 points while grabbing nine boards and dishing out three assists in 30 minutes on the court.
In Akron's 69-60 over the Bulls on Feb. 26, Cvetinovic posted a team-high 22 points to help the Zips to their seventh-straight victory, sixth-straight in league play. Cvetinovic scored 14 of his points in the second half and finished the game having made 6-of-10 field goals and 10-of-11 free throws. The junior was 6-for-7 from the line and 4-for-5 from the floor after intermission. Cvetinovic also had four rebounds and two steals in his 100th career game as a Zip.
Cvetinovic closed the week shooting 66.7 percent from the floor (14-for-21) and converting on 88.2 percent of his chances from the charity stripe (15-for-17).
On December 6, Cvetinovic earned his first player of the week honor after helping the Zips to road wins at Detroit (77-69) and at UIC (54-52).
The Zips return to action on Tuesday when they face the Ohio University Bobcats (16-13, 8-6 MAC) in Athens, Ohio. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. ET.
