Tennis Falls 6-1 at Nationally-Ranked Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Competing for the second time in 12 hours, The University of Akron tennis team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 6-1 at 53rd-ranked Brown on Saturday morning.
Akron (6-1) topped Bryant 7-0 late Friday night in Providence
and was back on the court to square off against the
nationally-ranked Bears today at 11 a.m.
Brown (5-5) took an early lead with a sweep of the doubles point.
The Zips did not go down easy, however, as its 18th-ranked pair of

Jogasuria lost 8-6 at No. 1 to Bianca Aboubakare and Jessica

Pantusart gave up an 8-2 decision at No. 2 to Ariel Caldwell

Akron's lone point of the day came courtesy of Natalia Kuvakina at No. 6 singles. The freshman topped Julie Flanzer 6-0, 6-3 to score her second singles victory of the weekend. Angelika Jogasuria and Prang Pantusart lost in three sets at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.
The Zips will play for the third time in as many days on Sunday at 10 a.m. at 67th-ranked Boston University. Akron plays host to its first home contests of the season on Sunday, March 6, matching up against Northeast Ohio rivals Cleveland State at 10 a.m. ET and Youngstown State at 2 p.m.
