Zeke Marshall Continues Assault on Akron Recordbook
November 29 | Men's Basketball
AKRON, Ohio – Junior center Zeke Marshall continued his assault on the Akron men's basketball recordbook over the weekend, breaking Romeo Travis' (2004-07) mark for blocked shots in a career with his 166th swat.
Marshall, who already owns the single season (92), freshman (59), sophomore (92) and single game (9) marks, added the newest record when he blocked Doug Anderson's layup attempt against Detroit on Nov. 26.
With only two blocked shot school records left for Marshall to break (junior and senior season), he will now set his sights on the Mid-American Conference recordbook.
Thanks to his performance in the MAC Tournament last March, Marshall already owns two MAC records, including blocked shots in a single league tournament game (9) and the most blocks for a single MAC Tournament (17).
Entering this weekend's game at Middle Tennessee (Dec. 4), Marshall has 169 career blocks, good for 12th all-time in the MAC. His 92 blocked shots last season rank sixth behind Patrick Flomo's 105 swats (Ohio, 2000-01). Marshall needs 133 blocked shots to break Lonnie Jones' mark of 301 career blocks (Ball State, 1988-2002).
Marshall and the Zips will have the week off from competition before returning to action on Sun., Dec. 4, when they travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take on Middle Tennessee. Tip-off for that contest is set for 2 p.m. ET.
