Phil Ferguson Named MAC Track Athlete of the Week

University of Akron junior Phil
Ferguson was named Mid-American Conference Men's Track Athlete
of the Week Tuesday after helping lead the Zips to a second-place
finish at the All-Ohio Indoor Championships at Kent State last
weekend. It is the third straight week a member of the Zips men's
team has earned weekly honors from the league.
Ferguson was a double winner at the All-Ohio Championships,
matching a PR with a time of 21.23 in the 200 meter dash and
posting a new PR with a mark of 47.80 in the 400. Both times are
tops in the MAC and rank the native of Copley, Ohio, 18th and 23rd
among all Division I athletes, respectively. Ferguson also was the
anchor on the Zips' 4x400 relay team that took third place with a
time of 3:16.04.
In all, Ferguson is the fourth member of the UA men's team to earn
weekly honors from the MAC this season and the fifth Zip overall,
including Kim Lorentz, who
was named MAC Track Athlete of the Week on the women's side last
Tuesday.
