Angelika Jogasuria Paces Tennis at FGCU Invite

FORT MYERS, Fla. - University of Akron sophomore Angelika Jogasuria posted a victory in doubles and singles on Saturday to highlight the Zips' first day of competition at the Hilton Garden Inn Eagle Invitational. The three-day, 11-team event is being held at the Florida Gulf Coast University Tennis Complex.
Jogasuria paired with sophomore Prang Pantusart to post an 8-5 win over North Texas' Nadia Lee and Madura Ranganathan in Flight 2 doubles, and then tallied a 3-6, 6-4 (12-10) win over Lee in Flight 3 singles. The UA duo will take on Louisville's Amelia Harris and Stefanie Villajuan in Sunday's doubles semifinal round, while Jogasuria will face Illinois' Breanne Smutko in the singles semi.
Angelika's identical twin, Angelina Jogasuria, also posted a singles victory, getting the best of Louisville's Mandy Brown 6-2, 3-5 (10-5) in Flight 2, and will line up against Purdue's Mara Schmidt tomorrow. Angelina teamed with UA junior Zara Harutyunyan in Flight 1 singles, where they gave up an 8-5 decision to North Texas' Irina Paraschiv and Barbora Vykydalova. The team of Jogasuria and Harutyunyan are ranked 26th nationally.
Sunday's competition is scheduled to get underway at 8 a.m., starting with doubles play.
