Men's Soccer Game at Ohio State to Air on 1350 AM
September 27 | Men's Soccer
The University of Akron Department of Athletics and the Akron
ISP Sports Network will air a live broadcast of the men's soccer
team's game at Ohio State Wednesday night on SportsRadio 1350 AM
(WARF).
Zips play-by-play veteran Steve French will have the call and be joined in the booth by Simon Spelling, a former two-time All-American defender at UA. A 15-minute pregame show, starting at 6:45 p.m. (ET), will precede the seven o'clock kick off.
Fresh off its rousing 4-0 shutout of No. 2 Tulsa last Friday night before a record-setting crowd of 4,744 fans at newly renovated Lee Jackson Field, Akron, the consensus No. 1-ranked team in the nation, will look to set an NCAA record for most consecutive shutouts when it faces the in-state rival Buckeyes.
The Zips have shut out their last 11 opponents, dating back to last season. As it currently stands, they are tied with Furman (2002) and Virginia (2009) for the all-time mark.
Akron (6-0-0) will also be looking to extend a couple of positive trends on the road in Columbus. The Zips have won their last 15 regular-season road games and are unbeaten in their last 19 (17-0-2), dating back to the 2008 campaign.
Ohio State (5-2-1) is currently ranked No. 15 by Top Drawer Soccer and No. 18 by College Soccer News. The NSCAA poll and Soccer America rankings will be released Tuesday.
UA leads the all-time series with OSU, 24-6-2, and has won the last three meetings.
