Harutyunyan, listed 73rd nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis
Association preseason singles rankings, scored a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win
over Louisville's Julie Fellerhoff to win the top singles bracket.
Harutyunyan advanced to the Spartan Invite flight A final for the
second-straight season. In 2009, she joined UA's Angelina
Jogasuria in the event's flight A singles final and the two
agreed to be co-champions of the bracket.
Today, Harutyunyan and Jogasuria joined forces to defeat Louisville's Fellerhoff and Mandy Brown 8-3 in the flight A doubles title match. That UA pair also won the Spartan Invitational flight A doubles competition in 2009.
Next weekend, Akron will be in South Bend, Ind., to participate in the Notre Dame Invitational. The event runs Friday-Sunday.
