Zips Finish 12th At Rio Pinar Intercollegiate

Orlando, Fla. - The University of Akron men's golf team finished 12th Tuesday at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate hosted by Central Florida. The Zips posted a 299-303-301 (903) at the par-72, 7,001 yard Rio Pinar Country Club.

Tournament host UCF took home the team honors carding a 14-under, 850 (279-290-281) while Charlotte's Olafur Loftsson posted a 7-under, 209 (71-70-68) for the individual title.

For Akron, senior Jacob Patte led the Zips with a 222 (72-76-74) to tie for 21st place in the 94 player field. Junior Lucas Murray and sophomore Scott Landreth finished within a stroke of each other carding a 226 (75-77-74) and 227 (77-73-77)

Freshman Cameron Simmons and junior Doug Underwood rounded out the scorecard sharing a score of 232. Simmons posted three rounds of 76-77-79 while Underwood shot 76-80-76.

Competing as an individual was sophomore Ryan Mason who posted a 82-82-81 (245).

Akron will return to the links April 10-11 at the Bluegrass Invitational hosted by Kentucky.
