Blue Team Wraps Up Fall World Series With Game Four Win

AKRON, Ohio - A Brendan Liberti two-run double sparked a six-run fifth inning from the Blue team, as they defeated the Gold team 9-0 in game four of the University of Akron Blue and Gold Fall World Series Friday afternoon at Lee Jackson Field. The victory clinches the series for the Blue team, giving them the 3-1 series win, as they won three straight after dropping Monday's game one.
Andrew Fanning and Dan Fawcett teamed up for the shut out, with Fanning allowing four hits over the first five innings and Fawcett closing out the game with a hitless sixth and seventh.
Liberti totaled three RBIs in the game on a pair of doubles, and Drew Turocy and Brian White each drove in two for the Blue team. Robert Huffman pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball for the Gold team.
A scrimmage will replace Saturday's orignally scheduled game five. The scrimmage is set to start at 10:30 a.m. at Lee Jackson Field and is open to the public.
