Tennis Recruiting Class Recognized Nationally

AKRON, Ohio The University of Akron tennis team's 2009-10 recruiting class was ranked as one of the best in the nation, according to a poll released on Friday by TennisRecruiting.net.
The Zips are one of 14 teams listed in the others receiving votes category in the top-25 balloting, tying Connecticut and Missouri with six tallies apiece. Further, Akron was the only school from the state of Ohio on the list and one of two Mid-American Conference programs to be recognized (Western Michigan received five votes).
A panel made up of journalists, tournament directors, referees
and ranking chairmen vote on the top classes. Schools received 25
points for each first-place vote, 24 points for each second-place
vote, on down to one point for each 25th-place vote.
"It is really exciting to have our incoming freshman class recognized as one of the best in the country alongside the historically top tennis programs from the biggest conferences," Akron head coach Jeffrey Wyshner said. "To have tennis experts across the country begin to recognize the progress we are making is very satisfying. Also, it helps our recruiting efforts down the road."
In November, Wyshner added twins Angelina and Angelika Jogasuria, who hail from Serpong, Indonesia, to his 2009-10 roster. To learn more about the Jogasuria sisters click here.
Friday marks the second-consecutive year that UA's recruiting
class as been mentioned among the nation's best by TennisRecruiting.net. Last year's class, made
up of current players freshman Zara
Harutyunyan and sophomore transfer Anna
Baronayte, earned three votes in the national top-25 balloting
and was listed 12th in the website's mid-major rankings.
Harutyunyan, currently ranked 85th nationally and 11th in the
Midwest region, plays No. 1 singles and teams with Baronayte to
make up the squad's top doubles pair.
Akron (1-2 dual) is in Indianapolis for a pair of matches today,
facing IUPUI at 9 a.m. EST and Butler at 2 p.m.
