The University of Akron Athletics

Round One in the Books in Kentucky
April 14 | Men's Golf
Lexington, Ky.-Wind, rain and cold temperatures
made it a difficult day for golf Sunday for the University of Akron
Zips at the Bluegrass Invitational. Akron shot a 328 and rest in
15th place after round one. Limited day light halted round two and
will resume with round three action tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m.
(EST).
The event hosted by the University of Kentucky is being played at the University Club which opened in 2002 becoming the official home of the UK men's and women's golf teams. The University Club of Kentucky features two 18-hole courses, one named the Wildcat and the other Big Blue. Each 18-hole course is approximately 7,000 yards in length and stretches across over 300 acres of rolling terrain complimented by a dozen lakes and ponds.
The tournament participants hope they will have better weather
conditions tomorrow as the teams are playing on the immaculate
7,013 yard par-72 Big Blue Course.
Junior David Addison was the top finisher for the Zips
after round one carding a first round score of 79. Sophomore Jacob
Patte followed closely behind shooting one round of 80 in the
adverse weather. Seniors Ryan Gutowski and Colin
Clemente finished shooting an 84 and 85 and freshman Drew
Davidson rounded out the Zips scorecard with an 89.
