Ossie's Insights: NCAA Weblog #13
December 02 | Men's Soccer
University of Akron senior Ossie
Michalsen talks about the end of the men's soccer team's season
in an emotional weblog in his latest entry of Ossie's Insights on
NCAA.com.
"So here we are, at the end of the road," writes Michalsen. "I have
officially played my last game for the University of Akron, as my
senior year has come to an end. Sitting here trying to comprehend
all the emotions that are within me, the day after, is difficult.
Never before have I felt like this, as in the past there was always
next year and next season to make things right. Now there is no
next season, and no way to make right what happened this
weekend.
"However, we did do a lot of things right this season, and I am
proud of what we achieved. The record, 17-2-4, speaks for itself,
but behind this are numerous hours of hard work, sacrifice, and
dedication. Looking back at this season it is still hard to accept
that we did not become national champions as this was the goal we
worked for since this spring. All the way until the last seconds of
the Northwestern game, this dream and goal was still alive within
me.
"Our team was the most talented I have ever been part of here at
the University of Akron, and our team chemistry was better than
ever. Through ups and downs, we stood together, no matter what
success or adversity faced us. And we never stopped believing. It
was an incredible team to have been a part of."
