Men's Soccer Recognized In National Polls

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's soccer team is listed among the top 25 in four national polls released on Tuesday. The Zips, who were unranked in the preseason, topped out as high as No. 16 this week in both the Soccer America and College Soccer News rankings.
Additionally, UA was listed 17th in the SoccerTimes.com Top 25 and registered at 18th in the NSCAA/adidas national listing.
Akron opened the season this past weekend with a pair of victories, notching a 3-1 win over nationally-ranked New Mexico on Friday before topping UAB 1-0 on Sunday en rout to claiming the Westfield Insurance Cup title at UA's Lee Jackson Field.
The Zips take their 2-0-0 record to Winston-Salem, N.C., this weekend to compete in the Wake Forest Tournament, where they will square off against Wake Forest and North Carolina on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Wake is listed No. 1 in this week's Soccer America, NSCAA/adidas, and SoccerTimes.com polls.
Friday's action gets underway at 7:30 p.m. EDT, while Sunday's
contest starts at noon.
