AKRON, Ohio The University of Akron
baseball program will play host to its third-annual golf
tournament, the Diamond Legends Classic, on Saturday, Sept. 29, at
Raintree Country Club in nearby Uniontown. All UA letterwinners,
fans, alumni and supporters are welcome to participate in the
event.
More details regarding registration and sponsorship opportunities
will be released on a later date on GoZips.com.
The Classic is a major fund-raiser in which all proceeds benefit the UA baseball program, while also serving as an event designed to bring former Zips together with the current coaching staff.
Raintree Country Club is located in Uniontown, Ohio, just 10
minutes east of I-77 between Akron and Canton. For directions visit
www.raintreegc.com.
Akron (23-24) posted an eight-game improvement in the win column
this past spring in Pat Bangtson's second season at the helm.
Juniors Kurt Davidson (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) and Doug
McNulty (Homer City, Pa./Homer-Center) each earned Mid-American
Conference postseason honors. Davidson, an all-league selection in
2006, was named to the first team while McNulty was named to the
second team.
