Zips in Fifth after 18 at the Brickyard Collegiate

After 18 holes the Zips are in solid fifth place at the
prestigious Brickyard Collegiate. As a team the Zips shot 289
strokes on the par-72, 7,128-yard course.
Junior Vaughn
Snyder is the leader for Akron shooting 70 (-2) after round
one. He is tied for ninth out of a pool of 75 players.
Senior Colin
Clemente follows Snyder in 16th place overall. He shot a 71
(-1) on the day.
Senior Ryan
Gutowski and sophomore Jacob
Patte are tied for 38th overall shooting a 74.
Rounding out the Zips scorecard is freshman Drew
Davidson who shot a 75 and is tied for 44th overall.
Clemson University leads the tournament shooting 277 (-11) as a
team.
Round two begins tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
A total of 13 teams are participating in the 54-hole tournament,
include 2007 national runner-up Georgia, 2007 co-ACC champion
Georgia Tech, 2007 West Regional champion South Carolina, host
Mercer, 2007 Regional participant Eastern Michigan, Furman,
Gonzaga, 2007 Regional participant Hartford, Kennesaw State, 2007
Sun Belt Conference runner-up Middle Tennessee and Troy.
