MAC Basketball Television Package Announced
January 03 | Men's Basketball
AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's and
women's basketball doubleheader on Feb. 3 at Rhodes Arena will be
carried by FSN Ohio as part of the Mid-American Conference's
regional television package, the league office announced on
Wednesday. Additionally, the Jan. 27 Zips men's game against
Western Michigan will be televised by ESPN2 as part of the
conference's national TV package.
On Feb. 3, the Akron men's team will face Ball State at 4 p.m. EST
and the women's squad will take on Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m. The
tip-off time for both games had been listed as TBA in anticipation
of one, or both, of them being part of the package.
Along with FSN Ohio, all games in the MAC TV package will also be
carried by Comcast Local (state of Michigan, Indianapolis and Fort
Wayne, Ind.), CSN Chicago and Time Warner in western New York -
meaning they will be available to approximately 10-million
homes.
Also included in this season's MAC television game-of-the-week
package is the March 4 Akron at Kent State men's game, which has
had the start time changed to 7:30 p.m. to accommodate the
telecast.
For the second-consecutive season
the Akron men's squad will get to compete in front of a national
audience as its Jan. 27 game versus Western Michigan at Rhodes
Arena will be carried by ESPN2. Tip off for that game has been
changed to 4 p.m. Last season the Zips knocked off Ohio 76-61 on
"The Deuce".
The Akron men's team is off to a 9-3 start this season, and begins
league play at Ohio on Saturday. The UA women's squad is 7-5 and
rides a six-game win streak into tonight's MAC opener against
top-25 ranked Bowling Green at Rhodes Arena.
