Swimming Looks to Extend Winning Streak

– The University of Akron swimming and diving team will
look to extend its six-meet winning streak on Saturday at 1 p.m.
EST against Eastern Michigan in the Ocasek Natatorium.
The Zips (7-4. 2-3 MAC) enter the weekend undefeated at home this
season, but will have a tough test on Saturday against the 2006 MAC
Champions.
Akron, which has won seven out of its last eight meets, is coming
off two victories last weekend – beating Bowling Green 178-121
last Saturday and followed that performance with a 140-85 win over
Youngstown State on Sunday.
The Eagles will have a tune-up meet on Friday against Wayne State,
before battling the Zips on Saturday. Last weekend EMU was
victorious 132-100 versus IUPUI and 158.5-141.5 over Ball
State.
Last season the Eagles beat the Zips 182-109 in Jones
Natatorium.
UA freshman Cathryn Collins will look
to stay hot this weekend as she comes into the meet as the reigning
MAC Swimmer of the Week. Last weekend Collins recorded three
individual wins and one relay victory.
