Ubiparipovic Adds All-America Honor
December 07 | Men's Soccer
The postseason honors continue to come for University of Akron
senior midfielder
Sinisa Ubiparipovic
(Mentor, Ohio/Mentor/UIC) as he was named to the College Soccer
News All-America second team on Thursday.
Already this season, Ubiparipovic has been named a second-team
All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America,
Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, first-team All-MAC and
to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Season. Earlier this month it
was also announced that he has been invited to the 2007 adidas
Major League Soccer Combine in January. The combine will take place
Jan. 5-7 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
"It is no surprise that Sinisa continues to earn honors on the
national level," said Akron head coach
Caleb Porter. "It
represents not only the success he has had as an individual, but
also the respect we continue to gain as a top-level
institution."
Ubiparipovic recorded seven goals and seven assists on the season
for a team-high 21 points. He produced three game-winning scores
for Akron, including the deciding goal in a 2-1 win over Buffalo
that gave Akron a share of the MAC regular-season title. In three
seasons at Akron, Ubiparipovic tallied 34 goals, including a
career-high 17 in 2005 as Akron advanced to the quarterfinals of
the NCAA Tournament. A two-time first-team All-MAC selection, he
played in 81 career games with the Zips, making 69 starts.
