Day-Two Prelims are in the Books
December 02 | Women's Swimming & Diving
- Preliminary action of day two of the SummaCare Invitational is
complete with the University of Akron swimming and diving placing
five swimmers in tonight's A-Finals of four different events.
Tonight's competition will get underway at 6 p.m. EST. from the
Ocasek Natatorium.
Senior
Danielle Beland clocked in
the best prelim time in the 100 yard butterfly, tapping in at 57:34
to earn a spot in tonight's A-Finals.
Freshman
Kendall Karchner posted the
top prelim mark in the 100 yard back, finishing at 58.49 to advance
to tonight's A-Finals.
Cheri Baratto and
Melissa Young will both
swim in the A-Final of the 100 yard breaststroke. Barattto tapped
the wall in 1:07.26 and Young clocked in at 1:05.46.
Freshmen
Stephanie Zielinski
(1:09.55) and
Erin Koger (1:09.49) will
represent the Zips in the C-Final of the 100 breast.
Senior
Rachel Ripley started the
morning by recording a team-best time on the season in the 400 IM,
clocking in at 4:38.91 to earn a spot in tonight's A-Finals.
Freshman
Madelyn Robinson will swim
in the C-Final of the 400 yard IM as she clocked in a preliminary
mark of 4:53.03.
Freshman
Cathryn Collins earned a
spot in tonight's B-Finals of the 200 yard free as she posted a
preliminary mark of 1:56.52. Fellow freshman
Melissa Gary will swim in
the C-Final of the 200 free after clocking in at 1:58.71 this
morning.
Tonight's finals will also feature the men's and women's 200 medley
relay and the men's and women's 800 free relay. The finals of men's
1-meter and women's 3-meter diving will also be included in the
nightcap of day two of the SummaCare Invitational.
