Baseball Postponed, Rescheduled for Thursday

AKRON, Ohio - The third game of the Blue and Gold Fall Baseball
World Series was postponed due to inclement weather conditions
Wednesday. The game has been rescheduled for Thursday at 3 p.m. at
Lee Jackson Field.
Freshman Zach Yike (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering
Fairmount) is scheduled to take the mound for the Blue Team and
will be opposed by freshman Benjamin Danziger
(Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights). The Gold Team owns a
2-0 lead in the best-of-five intrasquad scrimmage after a 2-1 win
Monday and a 9-8 extra-inning victory Tuesday.
Freshman Jake Plata (Parma, Ohio/Padua
Franciscan) leads the Blue Team with a .714 (5x7) batting average
and three RBIs through the first two games, while freshmen
Brian Kordal (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) and
John Turk (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland) have each hit
.500 (3x6) to pace the Gold. Turk leads all players with four runs
batted in. Redshirt freshman Steven Zemanek II
(Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela-St. Joseph) led the Gold Team to an
series-opening victory on Monday with one earned run in six strong
innings while fanning three.
Each game of the World Series is scheduled for seven innings. The
victor of the series will be treated to steaks, while the losing
team will be fed hot dogs. Family, friends and fans are encouraged
to attend this free event.
