Akron's 123 total points was its highest offensive output since joining Division I (1980-81). The Zips have twice scored 126 points, both occurring in the 1960s.
The Zips 123 points was also the most ever at Rhodes Arena, surpassing the 117 they put up against Urbana on Jan. 22, 1986).
Tonight marked the first time Akron has scored 100 points since Jan. 29, 2003 at Northern Illinois when the Zips defeated the Huskies 101-100 in double overtime.
Tonight was the first time Akron has scored 100 points in a regulation game since a 103-75 victory over Northern Illinois on Feb. 5, 2001.
The Zips' 70 points in the opening period was a school record for points in a first half, besting the 66 they put up against Youngstown State on March 2, 1987.
The game was tied at 12 at 8:08 in the first half when the Zips used a 58-17 run to end the half leading 70-29.
Akron hit a school record 19 three-pointers (19-of-31), besting the previous record of 16 made vs. Southern Utah on March 1, 1990. The 31 attempts was one off the school record.
All 14 players on Akron's active roster entered the game, and each scored at least two points. Seven players, including all five starters, hit double figure points.
Akron has shot over 50 percent in back-to-back games. The Zips shot 59.7 percent (46-of-77) from the floor tonight, after going 50.9 percent (29-of-57) last Saturday at Cal.
Akron has won eight-straight home games, and has been victorious in 17 of its last 18 contests at Rhodes Arena.
Player Notes:
Sophomore guard Bubba Walther tied a career-high in
points with 21 (at Drake/11-19-04). He was 8-of-11 from the field,
including a 3-of-3 mark from 3-point range in 19 minutes. Seventeen
of his points, all of his threes and 12 of his minutes came in the
first half. He also recorded a career best three steals.

Freshman forward John Rybak played in his first-career game, posting 10 points and four rebounds in 15 minutes.
Sophomore Zach Sowers scored a career-best 12 points, all coming from behind the arc. He also logged a career-high 11 minutes. Previously, he had played only nine minutes in four games as a freshman last season.
