Marty Vosters is in his third season as a member of the Akron women's basketball staff and first as an assistant coach during the 2025-26 campaign after being elevated to the coaching staff in September 2025.
Vosters will lead the Zips’ efforts in constraint led teaching, differential learning, player development, recruiting, and evaluation curator on top of academics.
Â
“Marty has earned this promotion to assistant coach through relentless work, professionalism, and growth,” Akron head coach Ryan Gensler commented. “His two summers with the LA Sparks of the WNBA have sharpened his eye for detail and player development, and he’s brought that expertise back to Akron every day. Marty has a tireless work ethic, a creative mind for the game, and an outstanding rapport with our players—qualities that make him an exceptional leader for our program.”
Â
Vosters has served the past two campaigns on Gensler’s Akron staff as a graduate assistant in charge of video, player development, and recruiting evaluations. He played a pivotal role in the development of All-Mid-American Conference performer Shelbee Brown, who posted career-high numbers in points, field goal percentage, rebounding and assists per game.
Â
He has spent each of the last two summers as the scouting analyst and video coordinator for the LA Sparks of the WNBA. Vosters oversaw all film and analytics while assisting in scouting and player development as well as helping in the 2025 draft prep for the Sparks.
Â
During the summer of 2022 he spent time as an intern with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA and with Integrity Hoops Player Development in LA under Noah LaRoche (Summer of 2023). Additionally, he helped with workouts for NBA All-Stars Russell Westbrook, and NBA Champion Harrison Barnes.Â
Â
As an undergraduate at Minnesota, Vosters was a women’s basketball student manager and practice player for Gopher WBB, under Naismith Hall of Fame player Lindsay Whalen helping in all aspects of the program.
Â
A native of Freedom, Wis., he graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in finance before earning his MBA from Akron in 2025.
