Honors: 2016 MAC Player of the Year…2016 Academic All-MAC Selection…selected as team’s Most Valuable Player in 2015 and 2016
As a Sophomore (2015-16): (Fall) Went 6-4 in singles action while playing primarily at the No. 2 spot…won all three matches played at the Akron Shootout…participated and advanced to the singles main draw at the ITA Midwest Regionals...(Spring) named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year…a first-team All-MAC selection and an Academic All-MAC pick...played the season at No. 1 and No. 2 singles completing her sophomore campaign with a team-best 22-4 singles mark and an 8-8 doubles mark for a 30-12 overall record…won 12 straight singles matches while going undefeated in MAC singles play.
As a Freshman (2014-15): (Fall) Led the Zips with a 6-4 record in singles action…finished the fall portion with a 3-5 doubles mark with partners Kati Mdzinarishvili and Shannon Newnes…won all three matches played at the Akron Shootout...at the West Virginia Invitational, against Duquesne, she defeated Spencer Cravaggio, 6-0, 5-7, 10-4…she also defeated James Madison’s Dylan Owens, 6-2, 6-1 and posted the only win on the final match with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 comeback over Liberty’s Emily Groeneveld…(Spring) went 15-6 in singles and 7-9 in doubles…recorded a six-match winning streak including Akron's sole win against East Tennessee’s Jayde Viccars at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-3…closed out the season with three consecutive singles victories over MAC opponents Ball State, Buffalo and Northern Illinois.
High School: Part of the doubles team that won the national championship in her home country in the summer of 2013…a two-time national runner-up in the Under-18 singles division…captured city championships in Riga, Latvia, as the Under-18 singles winner in 2013…top player in the all-ages category in 2012…as an Under-16 player in 2010, won the Viljandi Open in Estonia, taking top honors in the main draw…attended Riga Secondary School #75.
Personal: Born June 4, 1995, in Riga Latvia…parents are Sergejs and Margarita Blinova…has a younger sister, Angelina who is a top tennis player in Latvia in ages 12 and under…speaks Russian, Latvian and English.…civil engineering major.
