Clint Caso (2013-14, men's soccer)
What makes you most proud to be a Zip?
What makes me most proud to be a Zip is all the close relationships I still maintain today six years removed from campus. The relationships with teammates and coaches are some of the strongest relationships in my life. I got married in December and to have former teammates from all over the country travel to central Pennsylvania for a wedding during the holiday period sums up the strengths of the relationships.
How are you and your family doing during this time?
Everyone in our families are healthy and well. My wife and I have two German Shepherds and they are probably doing the best. They are getting all the attention in the world and are extremely happy we are around all day.
Do you have any work from home tips that you have learned while quarantined?Â
The best advice is I have learned while being quarantined is maintaining a routine. I think its best to start your day with some sort of physical activity, I take my dogs for a run before I do anything. Keeping a consistent sleep pattern is also important because if it's not, it can really throw things off for the day.Â
What is your current job, title, ect. that are keeping you busy these days?
During the pandemic I have been unable to Coach and be out on the soccer field. The club I work for has been offering an online "training" program keep youth players busy. I have been preparing weekly curriculums for physical, tactical, technical and mental development for the players to do at home. I have also started a podcast where I have conversations with soccer players and coaches about their career and different challenges they have faced and overcome. Check it out as their are a lot of Akron Alumni on the Podcast - Blueprint Soccer Conversations with Clint on Apple Podcasts & Spotify.Â
What was/were the deciding factors(s) that brought you to Akron?
Simple; the camaraderie I saw within the culture of the team. Guys took pride in what they were doing on and off the field but also cared about who they were doing it.Â
What are your favorite memories on court, field, etc.?
My favorite memories on the field was all the hard work and competing throughout pre-season which then resulted in the reward at the end of the season winning the MAC regular season and tournament championships in 2013 and 2014.Â
What is it that you have learned from being a student-athlete at Akron that you will use throughout your life after graduation?
There are so many talented people out there, don't get complacent even when you're winning. Competing everyday; that everyday you need to be better than yesterday.Â
How has being a student-athlete at Akron aided in your personal development?
Being a student-athlete at The University of Akron has helped me develop the essential time-management skills and managing priorities which are necessary to be successful in life.Â
