AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron
Department of Athletics will continue its strategic planning
process by holding a pair of public forums later this month.
The first event is for University faculty, staff and students and
will be held on Thursday, April 25 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in room
316 of the Student Union. The second forum, intended for the
general public, will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27
on the FirstMerit Foundation Club Level of InfoCision Stadium,
immediately prior to the football team's Blue-Gold Spring Game that
kicks off at 1 p.m.
These forums will be a conversation with Director of Athletics Tom
Wistrcill about the future of Zips Athletics, and is a follow
up to an online survey that was sent to a variety of constituents
in the University community and throughout Northeast Ohio in March.
Over 1,200 responses were received and additional feedback is
sought as the department prepares to unveil its plan in May.
"A passion for Zips Athletics was clearly evident in the results
of our survey," Wistrcill said. "Our staff and I read every comment
that was submitted, and while that provided plenty of quality
feedback we want to go a step further and interact personally with
the individuals that our department impacts. I'm looking forward to
a candid and constructive conversation at these two events."
