Marc Smith was named the Coordinator of Academic Support Services at The University of Akron in the the fall of 2012. He works exclusively with the men's basketball and track and field programs. Additionally, Smith lectures in the Sports Science & Wellness Department.
Prior to joining the Akron staff after 17 years as a collegiate men's basketball coach. He was the head coach for men's basketball and women's tennis at Millikin University for four seasons. Smith spent five seasons as the head men's basketball coach and associate athletics director at Keystone College. He was also an assistant men's basketball coach at Millikin (1998-02), Mount Union (1997-98) and Martin Methodist (1997-97).
A 1993 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a bachelor's degree in business management, Smith earned a master's degree in sports science from Ashland University in 1996.
Smith and his wife, Faith, reside in Akron with their children, Marc, Jr., and Kaileigh.
