Acting Ethically and with Integrity
Student-athletes, coaches, and athletic department staff members are expected to act with integrity and in a manner consistent with the NCAA's standards for honesty and sportsmanship. Unethical conduct may include, but is not limited to:
- Refusal to provide information relevant to an investigation of a possible violation of an institutional, MAC, or NCAA rule;
- Providing false information relevant to an investigation of a possible violation of an institutional, MAC, or NCAA rule;
- Asking an individual to lie for you regarding information relevant to an investigation of a possible violation of an institutional, MAC or NCAA rule;
- Knowing involvement in offering or providing a prospective or enrolled student-athlete an improper inducement or extra benefit;
- Knowing involvement in providing a banned substance or impermissible supplement to another student-athlete; or
- Receiving a benefit for facilitating a meeting between a student-athlete and an agent, financial advisor, or representative of an agent or advisor

What is Sports Wagering?
Sports wagering is putting something at risk-such as an entry fee, wager, or other tangible item-for the possibility to win something in return.
NCAA Policy on Sports Wagering
NCAA rules prohibit wagering on intercollegiate, amateur, and professional sports in which the NCAA conducts championships. NCAA sports wagering rules apply to student-athletes, coaches, athletics department staff members, and non-athletics staff members who work with athletics departments.
Examples of Sports Wagering
Soliciting a bet on any intercollegiate or professional team;Accepting a bet on any team representing the institution;Soliciting or accepting a bet on any intercollegiate or professional competition for any item (e.g., cash, shirt, dinner) that has tangible value;Participating in any gambling activity that involves intercollegiate athletics or professional athletics, through a bookmaker, a parlay card, or any other method employed by organized gambling, including pools, auctions, and fantasy leagues; andProviding information to individuals involved in any type of organized gambling activities concerning intercollegiate athletics competition.
Violation for Sports Wagering
Permanent Ineligibility: If a student-athlete engages in activities designed to influence a portion or final outcome of a sports contest (e.g., point-shaving), or participates in a sports bet of any kind on ANY team at his or her school.
Ineligible for a Minimum of One Year: If a student-athlete participates in a sports bet of any kind via or through the internet, bookie, or parlay card.

Academic Fraud
Preserving academic integrity is central to the mission of The University of Akron and the NCAA. Any activity that compromises the academic integrity of the university or undermines the educational process is classified as academic fraud. Any student found to have engaged, or attempted to engage, in any act characterized as academic fraud will not only be subject to disciplinary action by Ohio State, but NCAA sanctions, as well.
Examples of Academic Fraud:
Allowing another person to type, edit, or reconstruct your work;Allowing another person to research, take notes, or purchase academic materials for you;Taking an exam for another student or knowingly permitting another person to take an exam for you;Falsifying your class attendance; and Plagiarizing or paraphrasing another's work without properly citing sources.
